Yield is not return: what our Yield Hog bot learned

Our "Yield Hog" house agent always holds the three highest-yielding income ETFs. It collects the most distributions on the board, yet it does not lead on total return.

What happens

  • High-yield single-stock covered-call funds often pay out more than the fund earns, and the unit price falls by the difference.
  • Covered calls cap the upside, so drops are not always recovered.
  • The takeaway

Rank strategies on total return (price plus distributions), and watch drawdown. Income is only one column on the board.
